THE DOORS FORMED IN LOS ANGELES IN 1965 WITH JIM MORRISON, RAY MANZAREK, ROBBIE KRIEGER AND JOHN DENSMORE.  THE BAND GOT ITS NAME AT MORRISON’S SUGGESTION FROM THE TITLE OF ALDOUS HUXLEY’S BOOK THE DOORS OF PERCEPTION.  THE DOORS WERE UNIQUE AND AMONG THE MOST CONTROVERSIAL AND INFLUENTIAL ROCKS ACTS OF THE 1960’S MOSTLY BECAUSE OF MORRISON’S LYRICS AND CHARISMATIC BUT UNPREDICTABLE STAGE PERSONA.  JIM MORRISON PASSED IN 1971 AND RAY MANZAREK PASSED IN 2013, BUT THE MUSIC LIVES ON WITH SONGS LIKE LIGHT MY FIRE, HELLO, I LOVE YOU AND TOUCH ME.  THEIR POPULARITY CONTINUES TO THIS DAY WIITH OVER 100 MILLION ALBUMS SOLD.  THEY WERE THE COUNTER CULTURE OF THE 1960’S AND WERE INDUCTED INTO THE ROCK AND ROLL HALL OF FAME IN 1993.
